1. Choose a safe surface, such as a work bench, and place the hole making tool to rest on its stand.
2. Plug the tool into a standard wall power outlet and wait for the tool to heat up. Be extremely care
ful, the tool gets VERY HOT very quickly and can burn you
3. After about 3-4 minutes, the tool is ready for use.
ALWAYS rell in an area where you can tolerate a spill, like a workbench or outside.
1. Using the hole making tool, CAREFULLY burn a hole into the cartridge in the area shown by the
red circle BE VERY CAUTIOUS not to burn your self as the tool remains very HOT (see hole
position in HP 3500, 4500, 4600).
NOTE: Making a hole in the cartridge leaves you with the burnt out round piece of plastic. If this falls
in to the cartridge, you need to remove it by turning the cartridge upside down.
2. EMPTY OUT OLD TONER COMPLETELY.
3. Now you can ll the cartridge with toner by pouring it in, using the toner bottle and nozzle cap so as
to avoid spillage.
4. After the cartridge is lled, you need to seal the hole using a plastic plug for the 4500 or duct tape
for the 3500 and 4600, making sure that you have a tight seal.
5. Make sure that the transparent sensor (shown by the blue circle) is completely clean. If it is not, the
printer may not recognize the cartridge.

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The HP 4600 cartridges have “chips” that recognize the levels in the cartridge. If your cartridge does not
print after you have
relled it, then these chips need to be overid or replaced. We offer 2 procedure to override the chip ink
level. If both dont work, replacement chips can be bought on request.
OVERRIDE PROCEDURE 1: You just switch off and on the machine. Do it when you take out the car-
tridge, and after inserting it again.
The chip does not work with physical contact with the drum, but with a radio frequency. In some cases,
due to this, you will have to switch off and on more than once, this is the only thing that needs to be done
for the machine to recognize the cartridge.
OVERRIDE PROCEDURE 2:
